Previous web-conferences have engaged the question of why boards of directors should attend to stakeholder interests from the wider society (considering the justifications for doing so and even the responsibilities to do so for longer term firm viability).
This web-conference begins our examination of how boards of directors might bring multiple views into their deliberations and governance. One promising place to look is on boards where women directors may speak to a different portfolio of societal concerns.
This web-conference featured Dr. Alison Konrad, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Corus Entertainment Chair in Women in Management, Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario. She co-authored a report on how having a "critical mass" of three or more women on a board of directors broadens the board discussions to include shareholders, customers, employees, and the community.
Listen as Dr. Konrad discusses her research, the implications for corporate governance, and teaching approaches to bring these lessons to current and future business leaders. The presentation is followed by a question and answer / discussion session..
